1 TIP THAT’S GOOD FOR MORE THAN DIAPER BLOWOUTS

There are some things we just don’t question. There’s only so much we can bother thinking about.  Well, you might have seen this post from the blog “Tiaras & Prozac.”  A mom of four finally discovers the meaning of the shoulder flaps on a onesie!   Quite the epiphany.  Check out this video and then I’ll tell you what clicked for me…

SHOULDER FLAPS MIGHT COME IN HANDY DURING AN EMERGENCY

Pretty simple, right?  Yes.  Diaper blowouts will likely be the most common reason to peel the onesie off the shoulders, but here’s what came to mind when I heard about this…CPR.  What?   If you’ve ever taken a CPR class, you’ll know that you are taught to remove clothing out of the victim’s chest area.  It is best to do CPR on bare skin to ensure proper placement and to avoid sliding.  How do you do that quickly in an emergency?  Here’s a quick way.  Just peel the onesie down the body instead of unsnapping buttons and bringing the onesie over the head.  Of course, either way will work, but if I can find a way to save a few seconds in an emergency, I’m gonna take it!

YOUR TURN

What other applications can you think of?  Obviously, as an emergency educator, my mind quickly went to CPR.  Any other practical uses you can share with other parents?  Leave a comment below!

"Hi, I just wanted to let you know my nightmare came true last night and my eleven week old son started to choke in the baby tub. If I hadn't have taken your class I don't think I would've known what to do. He's fine now he started crying and coughing after the first set of back slaps just like you said. Thank you..."
